Established in 2006, the Betty Siegel Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship and the R. Stevens Tumlin Rising Leader Scholarship recognize student leaders not only for their remarkable leadership qualities but also empower them to continue making a lasting impact.
The winners were selected by evaluators outside of the Department of Student Leadership and were recognized during the Student Leader Appreciation event, held prior to the 10th annual Division of Student Affairs Student Leadership Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 21.
This year鈥檚 Siegel Outstanding Student Leader Scholarship recipients are Ella Goode and Allisa George. The honor celebrates students who reflect the true spirit of servant leadership and a commitment to helping others rise alongside them.
Goode, the programming lead for the Aerial Robotics Competition Team, said the Department of Student Leadership gave her 鈥渢he fuel for success,鈥 helping her become 鈥渁 leader worthy of the incredible team鈥 she serves.
鈥淚 count myself incredibly privileged to have had access to the spectacular resources [the Department of Student Leadership] provides,鈥 Goode said. 鈥淚 would not be where I am today without them.鈥
The Tumlin Rising Leader Scholarship, which honors a student who embodies what it means to live a leadership lifestyle, was awarded to Aliyah Johnson.
Johnson credited the Department of Student Leadership with helping her discover and refine her leadership style through coaching and self-assessments.
鈥淭hese experiences have not only enhanced my impact on campus but are also preparing me for success in the healthcare field,鈥 Johnson said. 鈥淭his self-awareness and leadership training will allow me to build stronger relationships with colleagues, advocate effectively for patients, and contribute to a culture of high-quality, team-based care.鈥
The Department of Student Leadership continues to offer students programs and workshop
opportunities that build transformative leadership experiences across campus and into
life after graduation. For more information on Student Leadership, check out their
