Out of State/Country Tuition Waivers

Out-of-State Tuition Waivers for International Students (OSTW) are available only to those fully admitted or enrolled in one of the listed master's programs (certificates are not eligible for OSTW) 

  • Artificial Intelligence (MSAI)
  • Data Science and Analytics (MSDSA)
  • Computer Science (MSCS)
  • Information Technology (MSIT)
  • Software Engineering (MSSWE)
  • Cybersecurity (MSCYBR) 

Newly accepted international students can receive OSTW in two ways:

  • Automatic Eligibility – No application is required if you have an undergraduate GPA of 3.7 or higher, either from a domestic transcript or an evaluated international transcript (e.g., a 9.25/10 CGPA from India is equivalent to a 3.7/4 U.S. GPA). Automatic waivers are limited and offered on the basis of admission date.
  • Application Process – Students who do not meet the automatic eligibility criteria can apply through the regular application process outlined below.

Regular Application Process

Tuition waivers are awarded based on merit, considering factors such as GPA and other academic achievements. A 4.0 GPA does not guarantee a waiver. Submitting the Tuition Waiver application places you in the applicant pool for consideration CCSE makes no promises or guarantees that an applicant will be awarded the waiver. You must be prepared to pay the full amount reflected on your Owl Express account by the tuition payment deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Incoming International Graduate Students - Must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher, either from a domestic transcript or an evaluated international transcript (e.g., an 8.13/10 CGPA in India).
  • Current Graduate Students - Must have an overall ʳɫÊÓƵ program GPA of 3.66 or higher.

Only automatic allocation is available, no applications will be accepted.
*By this date, the student must be enrolled in 9 hours or more (6-thousand or above level courses) with 6 hours or more of in-person or hybrid courses UNLESS it is the final semester AND the student has petitioned to graduate.

What the OSTW Provides and Does Not Provide

  1. The OSTW provides a waiver of the out-of-country portion of tuition per credit hour; the recipient will pay the in-state credit hour cost; the waiver does not cover student fees of any type. 
  2. The waiver DOES NOT cover certificate/foundation courses. 

To Retain the Waiver

  1. To retain the OSTW each subsequent semester, the student must maintain a 3.66 GPA or higher in their program.
  2. The waiver is in place, once awarded until one of the following occurs:
    • the awardee's cumulative program GPA falls below 3.66; or
    • the awardee no longer meets the criteria;
    • the awardee accepts GRA/GTA position or;
    • graduation from the program
