FAQs
Below you will find answers to common questions students often have about the education abroad process.
Choosing A Program/The Application Process
-
Why should I participate in an education abroad program?
Education abroad programs can help you grow personally, academically, and professionally. Here are some key benefits of participating in an education abroad program as described by NAFSA: Association for International Educators:
-
Enhance Your Global Awareness: You can enhance your awareness of the world around you by studying abroad. To be an educated citizen today requires students to able to see the world through others' eyes and to understand the international dimensions of the problems we confront as a nation, skills that are enhanced by an education abroad experience.
-
Enhance Your Academic Learning: You can help enhance your academic learning by studying abroad. A study abroad experience will introduce you to new professors who can expose you to new viewpoints beyond your campus, and a diverse student body that can introduce you to different customs and cultures. A study abroad experience also lets you expand your academic learning outside of the classroom, because you live what you are learning.
-
Develop Your Leadership Skills: You can strengthen your leadership skills by studying abroad. An educational opportunity outside the United States can be among the most valuable tools for preparing a student to participate and lead effectively in an increasingly interconnected international community that demands cross-cultural skills and knowledge.
-
Advance Your Career: You can help by studying abroad. In today's increasingly global society, obtaining international skills and knowledge can make you more marketable in getting a job and more productive once you're in the job.
-
Experience Personal Growth: You can experience significant personal growth by studying abroad. Students who study abroad discover that in the process of learning about other countries and cultures they end up learning more about themselves in ways that simply cannot be replicated in the comforting and familiar confines of an American campus.
-
Learn Another Language: Students can better learn another language by studying abroad. Immersion in another language through study abroad is one of the best ways to gain proficiency in that language.

What kinds of programs are there?
We offer a variety of different program opportunities for students. Below is each main type of program that we offer.
- Faculty-Led Programs are led by 食色视频 Faculty and are designed for 食色视频 students. Programs can be 2 to 7 weeks long and are primarily offered during the summer. Offerings may vary from year to year and each program has a set itinerary and cost associated with it. Course offerings are set by the faculty ahead of time. Tuition and Fees are paid to 食色视频. Airfare and some other expenses are paid for separately.
- 食色视频 Exchange Programs allow you to earn 食色视频 Credit while enrolled at a partner university abroad for a semester or Academic Year long. These programs allow you to be immersed in a new culture while earning credit towards graduation. Course offerings depend on the host university. Tuition and Fees are paid to 食色视频. Airfare, housing, meals, and some other expenses are paid for separately.
- Many other opportunities are available like Internships, Directed Studies or Research Abroad. These programs are individualized, vary greatly and also require a 食色视频 application, so we can still support your experience abroad.
- If a student can鈥檛 find a 食色视频 program that fits their needs, they can find a Non-食色视频 Program/Outgoing Transient Program, such as a program at another university, or with a provider like ISA, TEAN, CIS Abroad, ISEP, etc. These programs will all award transfer credit. Costs will vary and will be paid to the host institution or provider. It is encouraged to review these programs carefully. We will also require a 食色视频 program application so that we can help support you in the process and sometimes help you get financial aid for the transfer courses.
*Each program is unique. Please check the for the most accurate information.
