Information Technology Department Leverages Grants to Eliminate Textbook Costs

Bucking the trend of rising textbook costs, one 食色视频 department is nearing completion on an effort to save students an estimated $1.3 million by converting course material to open educational resources through the support of Affording Learning Georgia (ALG) grants. 食色视频 State鈥檚 Department of Information Technology recently received three awards totaling more than $50,000 from round 18 of the ALG program, a University System of Georgia initiative which promotes alternatives to expensive textbooks.

The state of Georgia is looking to strengthen its position in the music business, hoping for a repeat of the success still enjoyed by the film and television industries. To that end, they recently partnered with 食色视频 to develop a statewide database of musicians and related professionals that will help productions locate Georgia talent. Earlier this year the Georgia Department of Economic Development asked 食色视频 State鈥檚 Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business (MEBUS) program to create a directory of the roughly 20,000 Georgians working in various capacities within the music industry. The recently launched directory includes artists, venues, studios, managers, marketing firms, attorneys and schools.

Lt. Col. Trent Geisler鈥檚 military career has led him across the globe as he did everything from commanding dive teams in Southwest Asia to teaching at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Now a second-year student in 食色视频鈥檚 Ph.D. in Analytics and Data Science program, his main directive is to earn his degree with the intent to apply his studies within the Army thereafter.
