鈥淚 think the trophies this year are well deserved,鈥 said Hugh Cathey, one of the 16 students who made the trip to Indiana. 鈥淥ur members have put in a lot of effort to make it this far. We underwent a multitude of design iterations and spent countless hours testing the vehicle, and we really benefited from the foundation that previous teams have left us.鈥

Sponsored by Purdue University, scoring at the evGrand Prix is based on energy efficiency and engineering design of the lightweight vehicles in addition to race performance. 食色视频鈥檚 vehicle, driven by systems and industrial engineering student Austin Deaver, finished first in the design review and energy efficiency categories and among the top four in the racing portion of the event. 食色视频 State previously placed first overall in the 2016 edition of the evGrand Prix.
